The NC Whirligig Festival has every intention of being held in November 2021. However, as we learned in the previous year, even our best intentions are not always possible. Should the pandemic, or any other act of God, cause disruption in this year’s festival plans, we will do our best to honor our vendors and participants and communicate any changes as quickly as possible.

What is required to attend the festival?

  • As of August 2021, there are no mandates in North Carolina to attend outside festivals.

  • The festival planners and the NC Department of Health and Human Service highly recommend that all those attending the festival:

    • Wear a mask

    • Wash your hands frequently

    • Keep a safe distance from those around you.

  • If you are experiencing COVID or Flu like symptoms, or have been exposed to the coronavirus with the past 10 days, you should stay home and not attend any public event, including the festival.  Please remain home for the safety of yourself and others.

What is the festival doing to provide a safe environment?

  • The festival is following all the guidelines and recommendations provided by the NC Department of Health and Human Service.

  • Encouraging all members of the festival planning team and volunteers to be fully vaccinated.

  • The festival as partnered with the Carolina Health Clinic to provide FREE Vaccination Clinic within the festival zone. The clinic will be set up at the corner of Nash Street and Tarboro Street, in the former Farris & Farris parking lot. The clinic is open to everyone, no appointment is necessary.

  • An increased amount of handwashing stations will be available at all porta-johns locations.

  • Vendors will be spread out allowing more distance between vendors.

  • All vendors will have hand sanitizer available for customers.

  • All vendors will systematically and frequently spray, wipe and sanitize surfaces.

  • All food vendors handling and preparing food are required to be masked.

The NC Whirligig Festival has open communication with our local City and County health officials, whom are monitoring the health situation and safety protocols needed very carefully.

The festival asks for the community’s help to make sure that the information shared with residents is coming directly from reliable resources. Please use resources from a trusted source like the CDC or NCDHHS to promote behaviors that prevent the spread of COVID-19.
